This painting is about Australia and the opals that we produce. Opals, in full colour remind me a lot of the gay pride flag. I’m not gay but I have always enjoyed my friends who are. These friends are all full of colour and movement – things I really like. I love the freedom of being one’s true self. So, I see this painting as scratching back the earth to see the colour, movement and freedom of Australia.
